Monitoring unit of aeroengine vibrations

The unit of monitoring aeroengine vibrations MLM 1.2 is determined for the continuous monitoring of vibrations and abnormal conditions of aeroengine both at land trail runs and flight. The MLM is suitable for all kinds of aeroengines and aircrafts - it also corresponds with the F3 category - interceptors.

 

 The monitor of vibrations consist of the SV 156A piezoelectric vibrations sensor, connecting low-noise cable and evaluation unit C7. The unit measures and evaluates engine vibrations capability defining as the RMS (root-mean-square) of vibrations in the range from 60 to 360 Hz. The vibrations monitor output is direct voltage equal to the vibrations capability, alternating voltage equal to vibrations velocity in the specified frequency range and admission logic signal activated while vibrations are overloading the emergency value.

 

The second monitored quantity is the dimension of acoustic emission from the engine, scanned in ultrasonic frequencies and serving for locating engine abnormal status such as damage of the engine roller bearing, contact of rotating engine parts with the jacket or with permanent subjects.

 

The MLM device was verified by the Research and Experimental Airborne Institute of Prague and passed for application in the aviation in accordance with RTCA/DO -160C standard categorization and approved for use in aviation.

 

Type approval for use in military aviation was issued by Ministry of Defence of the Czech republic for all versions of
MLM 1.2, MLM 1.2a and MLM 1.2AZ(AP) versions are mounted on L-39 and L-59 aircraft according to
the AERO Vodochody bulletin.

 

Other applications for special purposes, such as e.g. monitoring of C7A machine tool vibrations, are elicited from the MLM 1.2 device. In elicited applications are used construction characteristics and high reliability of original MLM solution.
